Biography
Hiroyuki Masuyama was born in Kyoto, Japan, on December 26, 1975. He received his Bachelor of Engineering degree from Faculty of Engineering, Kyoto University, Japan in 1999. He also received his Master and Doctor of Informatics degrees from Graduate School of Informatics, Kyoto University, Kyoto, Japan in 2001 and 2004, respectively. In February 2004, he joined the Department of Systems Science, Graduate School of Informatics, Kyoto University as an Assistant Professor. Since April 2014, he has been an Associate Professor of the same department.

His current research interests include computational probability theory and matrix analysis, emphasizing Markov processes and queueing models. He received the Best Paper Award for Young Researchers and the Best Paper Award of the Year from the Operations Research Society of Japan in 2007 and 2014, respectively.
